QR Chapter 9

This chapter was about when things go wrong in the classroom. When something goes wrong, such as a student getting a bad grade, or a social problem, the student will most likely become discouraged which will undoubtedly affect her performance. The teacher should ask the student how she feels about her progress and grade in the class both before the report card comes out and after. The teacher should answer any questions that the student may have, and also explain why the student got a low grade on homework or a project, even if the student doesn't ask so that the student can't come back later saying 'You never told me I did this wrong.' When the teacher becomes discouraged, he should not take it out on the students, but instead calm down and wait for things to get better. The teacher should never be afraid to apologize to the students, because they understand that everyone makes mistakes and it will just make them more upset if the teacher refuses to take responsibility for his mistake. Most importantly, the teacher should never, ever give up on the students. If the teacher gives up, the students will give up and the goal of a teacher is to make sure that each student pushes themselves to their own fullest potential.
