QR Chapter 7

This chapter was about how to teach difficult academic material. Before teaching new material , the teacher should first find out what the students aleardy know. When teaching hard material, the teacher should link it to material the students already know, break it down into sections that are easier to understand, try different ways to present the material to the class, and make connections to other things that they are learning. Although the material is hard, the assignments should not be easy so that the work is evened out. The teacher should give the students challenging questions that will make them think, so that they may come to class with more questions, or more understanding, challenge the students assumptions, don't stick to the textbooks, help the students with their resources, and give the students time to think, draft, and revise their work. For really difficult subject material, such as math and science, the teacher should walk the students through things, give them concrete examples, give them plenty of practice to enhance their skills, and give them encouragement when they become discouraged.
