QR Chapter 5

This chapter was about how to teach the entire class, but make it so that the teaching is effective for the individual students. The co-authors listed several types of students found in the typical classroom: the eye roller, the wallflower, the hand waver, the dreamer, the con artist, the goof off, and the workhorse. The chapter also gives tips for when the teacher has students working in groups. The teacher has to make sure that the project or assignment is challenging to each member of the group, assign different roles to each person in the group, make sure each person pulls their weight, don't let some students dominate others, keep an eye on every group, and sometimes let the students choose their own groups. The groups will also do better if the students are diverse within them, because then each student can give something unique to the groups that the others can't provide.
