Copyright and Fair Use LR
I chose to rant about question 7. The answer to this question really upset me. I work at a middle school and was really hopeful that I would be able to use student responses to how much I have helped them along with their photo in my Portfolio for education. The school told me that that was not allowed because the student's parents would not sign papers allowing me to use their child(ren)s names or photos. Therefore, I do not understand why a school would be able to use non-copyrighted material and post student work on the website. Although it is protected, do they take into account parental stalking when the parent does not have custody of a child? Do they take extra pains to make sure that the password is not being given out to people other than family and staff? What is to happen if one of the students finds out what the password is, and tells other people because he/she wants that person to see their work? The school has no way to protect against predators, especially parental ones.
